MARINE POLLUTION MONITORING METHODS
INTRODUCTION
Many of the pollutants discharged in to the sea are directly or indirectly the result of human activities. Some of these pollutants bio-degradable while other are not .These pollutants have adverse impacts on marine ecosystems but not limited to sensitive to aquatic fishes ,mammals and plants. There fore, in addition to reducing pollutants flow in to marine ,is essential to monitor pollutants to ensure a sustainable marine ecosystem.
MONITORING
Monitoring is a scientific technique, it is used to determining the concentration of harmful substances in various comportments of the marine environment, in order to achieve sustainable marine water quality.
Marine monitoring is a technique ,it measure's temperature,PH,salinity, turbidity, disolved oxygen content and colour of dissolved organic matter. The most common method is for organic pollution measurement is to collecting water samples by using boats or ships from different depth of sea. The water samples are analyzed in the laboratory to determine the physical and chemical parameters of water.
Marine monitoring method is also used to assess water quality for fishing, aquacultural purposes, bathing and environmental conservation, to estimate the influence of sewage industrial and agricultural wastes on the marine environment and to take any action to reduce the pollution loaded in to the costal region.
