MARINE POLLUTION MONITORING METHODS

Image
INTRODUCTION Many of the pollutants discharged in to the sea are directly or indirectly the result of human activities. Some of these pollutants bio-degradable while other are not .These pollutants have adverse impacts on marine ecosystems but not limited to sensitive to aquatic fishes ,mammals and plants. There fore, in addition to reducing pollutants flow in to marine ,is essential to monitor  pollutants to ensure a sustainable marine ecosystem. MONITORING Monitoring is a scientific technique, it is used to determining the concentration of harmful substances in various comportments of the marine environment, in order to achieve sustainable marine water quality.                                                       Marine monitoring is a technique ,it measure's temperature,PH,salinity, turbidity, disolved oxygen content and colour of dissolved ...

TRANSPORT PATH OF MARINE POLLUTION

Image
Transport path of marine pollution is atmospheric transport, river's ,ocean outfalls, ocean dumping, ships and mining, etc. ATMOSPHERIC TRANSPORT Many of these pollutants transport to the marine through atmospheric transportation. Atmospheric transportation occurs when once airborne( either as vapour or attached to dust particles) are washed out by rain or snow fall back to earth. Land based atmospheric transport of toxic chemicals such as persistent organic pollutants and heavy metals has contaminated the globe ,including the world`s ocean. The entry of heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium in to the sea from automobile emission is clearly an atmospheric transport and wash out in to marine with rain.                                                                    RIVER TRANSPORT Rivers can also be a ma...
